Today is Earth’s Day so I thought it would be a good idea to write a piece about our beautiful blue rock. In today’s article I am going to talk about our planet and other worlds. I’m going to speak out about the truth that we all know but that some of us don’t really want to see.

The fact of the matter is the Earth is the only known habitable planet, and we aren’t taking good care of it. We are polluting, contaminating, and using all of our resources.

Scientists are trying to find new habitable planets but so far we know there is only one that ticks all boxes. The Earth. We aren’t doing a good job at saving it (myself included). We must do better at recycling, reusing and reducing our waste.

As I mentioned before scientists are hunting to find other planets. Not long ago, they discovered a planet that might be capable of having life, Próxima B in Alpha Century. It is the closest possible habitable planet to us. It is four light years away. Now, that doesn’t sound like much, but it will take a spacecraft fitted with the latest technology two hundred years to get there and return to Earth. Quite a long time.

We are not even sure if this planet could hold life, and we don’t have the technology yet to get there ourselves. So, we should do our very best to take care of the planet that we know is habitable.

Every time you recycle or reuse, you are saving the planet. Little by little we all can do better.
