2nd August Monday

A good night to see Saturn through the telescope. The planet's rings will look brighter. After sunset look at the east-southeast horizon. Saturn will be visible all night. Venus is on the west horizon after sunset.

5th August Thursday

In early hours of the morning, you can see a waning crescent Moon. Saturn and Venus are still visible.

7th August Saturday

Callisto will be eclipsed by Jupiter. Jupiter's moon will disappear from view at 2:22 UT (Universal time = Spanish mainland time) this event can only be seen through a telescope.

8th August Sunday

There is a new moon tonight.

9th August Monday

Jupiter´s second nearest moon, Europa, will be covered by Ganymede´s shadow from 3:37 to 4:44 UT. You will need a telescope to see this.

12th August Thursday (morning 13th)

Tonight, we will be able to see the Perseid meteor shower from 19:00 to 22:00 UT. It can also be on the nights of 11th and 13th.

Look for the Perseus constellation next to Cassiopeia, Camelopardalis (giraffe) and Aries on the northeast.

With dark skies and no light pollution, you will see a lot of meteors. In a city with a lot of light pollution like mine the best time to see it will be 6:00 AM with 13 meteors per hour. These nights the moon is waxing crescent so it will spoil the view only for the first part of the night.

20th August Friday

Jupiter is at opposition with the sun and it is when the earth is closest to Jupiter, this means the planet will look brighter and bigger.

21st August Saturday

A full Moon tonight.

31st of August Tuesday

Aurigid meteor shower next to Auriga constellation north northeast horizon. The best time to see it is at 21:00 to 22:00 UT. When the moon rises later on you will see less meteors because of the moon´s glow.
